Benefits represent an important part of an employee's compensation package and involve considerable investment on the part of the employer. The course begins with, and builds upon, ERISA's written plan document requirement. Other ERISA compliance aspects (including disclosure, reporting, fiduciary, and enforcement requirements) are also reviewed as they relate to the written plan document requirement. In addition, the course analyzes ERISA's relationship with other applicable laws including the Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and state laws.
